Once you have installed it, you can run any (well, nearly any) existing gtk binary and see anti-aliased fonts in the gtk widgets. You don't need to recompile gtk or your applications.
You will need gtk at least version 1.2.0, and libXft, which is packaged with XFree86 version 4.0 and higher. (I recommend that you upgrade to at least XFree86 4.1, though). Requirements: · Gtk+ 1.2 or later, · libXft (included with XFree86; v4.1 of XFree86 recommended)
